Prestressing reinforcement
The prestressing technique, post-tensioning, was invented and patented by Eugène Freyssinet in 1928.
It was developed in thousands of structures worldwide by STUP (Société Technique pour l'Utilisation de la Précontrainte), the company founded by Eugène Freyssinet in 1943 – later renamed Freyssinet in 1976.
Post-tensioning is now universally recognised and widely used.
